Dark Knight: The Joker

I haven't been a great fan of the Batman comic series.

My dad was. He had the first few Batman comics - then he went to England to do his PhD in Chemical Engineering - and his father decided to move house - and threw out his "junk". Good on ya, granddad you moron.

I also wasn't terribly impressed with the earlier Batman movie. Its supposed to be one of the most realistic takes on Batman - and yet they have that 100 ton batmobile driving over the roofs of slums. Lol.

However, this movie is worth watching because of Heath Ledger- he's gives one of the best performance of a villian ever. He has tremendous screen presence -  He's also given great scripts. But apparently, he improvisioned on the dialogue a bit. Brilliant acting. With other actors - you just see them playing themselves - notably George Cooney for example.

But this former Home and Away star - really took walked off the deep end of the pier for this one. He's not longer Heath Ledger - he's THE JOKER - a psychotic twisted mastermind. When I first watched the Trailer nearly a year ago - I didn't even know it was Ledger. He gives the performance of his life - everything from his voice, mannerisms, the way he walks, the crazy way his tongue sticks out and THAT voice ... "WHY SO SERIOUS???"

Absolute Brilliance.

The other actors also perform admirably - Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman and the guy who plays Two Face - whatshisname.

But worth watching for Heath Ledger. And no, I haven't watch Brokeback Mountain.

Quite a bit of the film drew its inspiration from Frank Miller's Epic Graphic Novel: The Dark Knight Returns. Highly recommended too.
